Contemporary ARt November was an exhibition made in occasion of the fiftieth anniversary of the flood in Florence focusing on the plurality of contemporary artistic research. The exhibition animated the historical palace, former home of Giorgio Vasari, with works of established artists of various disciplines including visual arts, music and literature, creating an artistic dialog with the work of international students that were enrolled in courses of art and graphics at the Florence School of Fine Arts, with the objective of helping the younger generation to realize the importance of historical awareness and cultural exchange.
During the two evenings of events the artists and the students will presented their graphic works, installations, video installations and artists books accompanied by sound environments and readings. The exhibition reveaedl the tragic memory of the flood devastation in 1966 and the rebirth through art, creating a necessary dialogue between the contemporary and historical memory. The plurality of the works are a necessary factor in forming an indispensable connection with our recent past and the spark that reawakens our memories with the will to consolidate Florence as the center of culture and art of all time.
